Why call it your own

Did you know you are in showbiz?

You maybe thinking you have gone to the wrong website.

The truth is everyday you are in business, you are out there, showing your stuff off.

So since you’ve got stuff to sell (that’s why you are in business, right?), how do you flaunt it?

I was happily selling tea for years. I know my tea is great. I take care to choose the right products and ensure the suppliers are reliable and consistent.

I take time to get to know my customers.

I also know I’d like to sell more.

For a long time this bothered me, because too many tea lovers would still go to their local supermarkets to buy tea.

This frustration ended when we have realised this:

  1. Supermarket tea buyers are often not our target market. That’s the mass market. We are in the niche market.

  2. For the people who are serious to put down money for decent tea, because they appreciate quality, we need to find a way to wheel them in.

Many businesses come and go. The ones staying really strong have a point of difference.

This reminds me of a trip to GuangZhou in China some years ago.

My friend who was the local there said I had to try this “Singing Fish” in a certain restaurant.

“It’s a blast! You will love it.” she promised me.

I didn’t know what to expect. Afterall, Chinese are known for “creative” titles when it comes to naming their dishes.

So half way through the lunch, I noticed half a dozen of staff entering our room. That was kind of weird. We were in a small function room with a big round table with 12 of us. I didn’t know what to expect..

Then another lady holding a big plate containing a deep fried fish, drenched in this bright red sweet sauce, entered the room.

And then there was the singing.

All 6 of the staff started to sing a short little folk tune about a fish happily swimming in the stream.

And when that’s done, the dish was placed in front of us.

To be honest the taste of the fish was nothing to write home about, but the singing was.

Now, wouldn’t you want to be this restaurant owner, singing to the bank because of these repeat businesses walking into your door, again and again?

FACT: while product quality is important, presentation RULES.

Custom packing – signature blend – bespoke tea range – whatever you call it, there is a real advantage in upping your presentation by packaging the tea in your brand.

Look at how many giant companies are doing it, and you will know this is a profitable strategy..

Many product range is filled with the same products made by the same company for different brands – milk, bread, computer, car, and tea is no different.

The hard part is, most of us don’t have giant budget to power our own range.

This has changed massively these recent years.

With great technology, and with some “labour of love”, you can have a range for a smaller sum of, say $3 to 10K pending on how big your range is.

What, still too much?

What if I tell you there is a better way, and will save you over 70% of this cost, and many sleepless nights and frustrating phone calls, trying to talk jargon with designers, printers and packaging suppliers?

Excited?
